Areas of Focus
I work with people who find themselves struggling with
- Relationship and communication problems
- Loss (of an important person, marriage, pet, job, way of life)
- Chronic stress
- Life transitions (such as break-ups, marriage, childbirth, retirement)
- Lack of self-esteem and self-confidence
- Sadness and depression
I have studied several kinds of treatment methods during and after my university training. I draw from Reality therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), Relational Life therapy (RLT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Existential-Humanistic therapy, and Sand Tray therapy. I use the methods that I think will work best for a client or clients. If a client has a preference from the list, I would honor that.
My Training and Certifications
I received my Master’s degree in Counseling with a specialty in Couple, Marriage and Family Therapy from Portland State University. I completed my academic internship at PSU’s Community Counseling Clinic. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Oregon and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I am a professional member of the American Counseling Association. I am on the Registry of Counseling Supervisors in Oregon. I regularly receive continuing education in areas relevant to my counseling practice.
I offer clinical supervision to counseling interns in Oregon who are working toward their LPC and LMFT licenses. My training in counselor supervision included course work and supervisory experience. As a Master’s level counselor and former Director of the Community Counseling Clinic at PSU, I supervised counseling students there. I am now registered as a Supervisor with the State of Oregon. I currently offer supervision to interns at affordable rates.
